Evelyn Rose is 7 weeks

It's been years and years and years since I've written in this space and I feel like it's time for me to *try* to get back into it because there are so many things in life I want to capture, and honestly I miss blogging and documenting things.  AND an even bigger reason is because of our new baby Evelyn Rose.

Evelyn was my first baby born at home, and it was amazing!!!  If you are ever considering homebirth, DO IT!!  You will not be disappointed.  It was so peaceful and joy filled.  I could go on and on with how amazing it was, but I'll stick to Evelyn's 7 week update.  <3 nbsp="" p="">
Little Miss Evelyn is our little princess for sure.  We all adore her! Anya and Ollie give her kisses and talk to her every time they are near her.  Her cheeks are so kissable ;) I'm not sure how much she weighs now, but I can tell she's growing and filling out. Ever since Memorial Day (a week ago) she's been smiling a lot and is much more alert.  She loves engaging with us and acts as though she's trying to talk to us, but hasn't figured it out yet (sometimes we'll get a few little coos out of her).

Evelyn is such an incredible sleeper and is naturally getting into a routine, especially at night- it's amazing.  I give her a sink bath every night because it was the only way I could get her to calm down when she was being fussy.  The warm immediately relaxes her and makes her feel good. After bath I give her a little massage (told you she was the princess) with her Seedlings baby oil, little bit of Gentle Baby essential oil, and Seedlings lotion.  She loves it (it really helps her calm down because sometimes when I take her out of the bath she gets upset) I nurse her and she goes down at about 8:30pm.  Then has been waking up at 3:30 to nurse and go back to sleep until 6/7am.  I'm so spoiled with how well she's doing at night.  She sleeps in her little cradle next to me, and sometimes co-sleeps and cuddles with me if she just wants to be held.

During the day she absolutely loves to be in the Moby Wrap.  I don't know what I'd do without my Moby!!!  She loves the comfort of knowing Mommy is close and naps like that most days.  Evelyn loves going for walks and car rides- but when the car stops sometimes she starts crying.

Right now she is in size 0-3 month clothes, size 1 diaper, and I'm not sure weight but I wish I did!  At her one month checkup she was 9 lbs 8oz.  She looks longer to me and just seems overall chubbier and more filled out.  No more newborn wrinkle look.

Oh, how I love this sweet girl!  7 weeks has flown by, but at the same time it's seems like she's been a part of our family all along!

Oliver is TWO!

Dear Precious Boy,
Earlier this month you turned TWO! Time is going all too quickly.  These two years flashed before me like a second.  Now you are a little boy and no longer a baby.
You are now in size 24mos/ 2T clothes, size 6/7 shoe, and big boy underwear!  If I documented better I'd know for sure your height and weight, but life is all too busy for those details (sorry Ollie!)  You are roughly 28lbs, and above average in height.  You were the EASIEST child to potty train and have been interested in going on the potty for a few months now, I just needed to be ready.  But it clicked very quickly and you take pride in your new underpants and potty skills ;)  You still sleep in a crib and suck your two fingers while cuddling "Tigey".  You have become a picky eater and don't like certain food textures...not sure what's up with that?  You have a sweet tooth and love cookies and "ich crem" (ice cream). And you love dips!  You don't watch much TV because you have better things to do, but when you do you ask for "Barney Show".  Now that you are two you are talking very well, and we can understand you.  You are also pretty clever so we have to be careful what we say around you!  You are also an AWESOME sleeper!  You go to bed around 8pm and sleep most days until 9am, sometimes even 10am!  It's cra-zy!  You still love your afternoon nap as well, typically from 2-5pm, most days even later.  I sound like I'm bragging but it's true, you are just that great/easy of a kid!
Last night as a one year old!  And Mommy waking you up as a two year old.  Like I said, you sleep late and we wanted to get to the fair :)

Since you love farms and animals we took you to the McHenry County Fair for your birthday.  Gigi and Aunt Katie joined us.  Since it was during the day everyone else was at work.  You dressed like a little cowboy, it was so cute!!  You loved seeing and petting the cows, sheep, and goats.  You even went on your first ride and loved it.

After the fair we had Gigi, Papa and Aunt Katie join us for dinner at our house with us and Papa Nilsson.

You kept asking for a firetruck cake, so a firetruck cake Anya and I made you;)

You love all of your new toys!  Lots of animals for you to play with now (and Hulk!)

Happy second sweet Oliver!
I love you!

Petting Zoo & Strawberry Picking

It's hard to believe we are heading into the last week of June already!  This month went by way too fast!  We've had so much going on with getting settled in to our house, but I've made sure to make the most of these days with the kids.  Earlier this week we went to the Petting Zoo and the kids loved it!  Oliver won't stop talking about the cows and how they were his favorite.  He loved that we were able to feed them and how close he was able to get to them.  Anya is such an animal lover at heart, it was cute to hear her talk sweetly to the animals.

The next day we headed out to the Strawberry Patch to pick some strawberries while they are in season.  We had such a great time!  Best $5 ever spent!  We arrived before the crowds which was nice because there was no waiting for the tractor.  They were so excited we got a tractor ride to the fields!  I think Ollie  both had more fun eating the strawberries than picking them.  The strawberries were the best we've ever had!

  (hehe Oliver!)
 Anya saying "Yeehaw!"

These strawberries were eaten so quickly they didn't even last 24 hrs!
Sad to hear that TOM's will be closing soon so if you live in the area go now :(
