Splish, Splash Baby!

Yesterday was a big day for Anya!  It was her first day a the pool! We had a party with friends and spent the morning and early afternoon swimming with our kids. The weather was perfect at just under 90degrees with NO humidity!  Plus, the water in the pool was heated so to her it was just one big bath.

By, the way...isn't their house gorgeous??? Just like a resort!!

Looking forward to our next "swimming" play date with friends!

Summer Days

Already the end of July?  Seriously?  Every summer seems to go by so quickly...this one especially!  But we are enjoying every moment of it here in the Nilsson household.  Here are some pictures from a day trip we took to the Morton Arboretum.  We had such a great time.  It was a hot day in the 80s (before our heat wave) but we were under the nice big trees so it felt great!  We enjoyed a picnic lunch by the lake.

Anya loved being pushed in the stroller.  Her face lit up when we took her out and laid her on the blanket at lunchtime.  She loved looking up at the trees.  The fresh air was very much needed.

Now that summer is half-way over, we want to make the most of the time we have before Josh goes back to work mid August.  We are thinking about venturing out and going on a day trip to the Indiana Dunes for hiking and a day at the beach.  I've always wanted to go, so we'll see if we can make it happen.  Every "cooler" night (by cooler I mean 80s not 100s like it has been!)  we enjoy dinner on the patio and Sangria with our tiki torches lit.  Ahhh, summer couldn't get any better!

Stop growing so fast baby girl!

Time needs to slow down!  I can't believe my little girl will be 12 weeks in a few days....that's 3 months but the months don't line up with the weeks so she actually won't be 3 months until August 3...whew!

Every night I rock before she gets put down and the same thought crosses my mind... I can't believe how fast this day flew by!  And it's so true.  She's literally growing before my eyes.  Yesterday we had a doctor's appointment for her 2 month (a little late, I know).  She got her shots and weighed.  Anya now weighs just over 12 pounds, and is 24 inches tall...that's two feet for those of you who don't do math!  TWO FEET!  She's going to be a model I tell ya!  She's in the 98% for height...definitely has her mama's Harrington genes in her.

Yesterday night I decided to slip out while she was napping and pick up Josh's birthday gift.  I get a phone call from Josh saying she is frantically crying, so hard she couldn't even breathe.   I rushed home and by then she had cried herself to sleep.  He said it was a good thing I wasn't home because I would have wanted to take her to the ER.  We have a fussy baby, but he said he has never seen her like this before.  Her little thighs were bruised and swollen.  It made me think about how fortunate we are to have a healthy baby.  I can't imagine what parents go through when their children are not healthy.  It's so sad.  Last night she slept again...all night long.  This time from 7:30ish-6:00am!  Then she went back down at 7:30am-9:00.  It was so nice to get a full night of sleep!  She started to run a temperature in the afternoon from the shots, but luckily we had some Tylenol to help with that.  I cuddled with her all day long today.  It was great!

In the mail I received a photobook that I put together for Anya on her birth day!  I think that will be her favorite book for me to read her as she grows up.  I wrote it in "kid language" and I must say it is very cute.  I can't believe how small she was...well, small for Anya that is. Looking through that book makes me realize how precious this time is. I love her so much!!

Okay, I'm done being an emotional mommy!

Rise and SHINE Sweetpea!

This is how Anya woke up after sleeping through the night....see the feet sticking out?  Notice how she is turned?  It's funny to see how she's positioned when I see her in the morning.
Little Miss pulled an all SLEEP nighter last night!  Ahhh, it was so exciting.  She went down around 8:00 pm last night and didn't wake up until 5:30.  No tears, no fuss, no waking up!  This is such an exciting milestone moment for us...as Josh and I are tired from fragmented sleep for the past 11 weeks.  It is such a nice treat.  Praying for another night like last night!

Thanks Sweetpea....can you do that again for us tonight?  Pretty please?

4th of July

Every year in July we visit my family in Cincinnati.  This year my family planned a special Welcome Anya celebration since many of them couldn't attend my her baby shower.  It was great having family meet her for the first time.

The car ride down she did great!  We left at 6am and she slept until we were 15 minutes away from my grandma's house!  Once we arrived at her house she held Anya and Anya's eyes got real wide and then she began to cry (doing the little bottom lip curl thing that she does so well).  Grandma says that she always makes baby's cry- I think Anya was just overwhelmed from all of the excitement with family!

Aunt Terri holding Anya in her favorite position.  She couldn't believe how much she favors Josh!

Visiting in Grandma's family room.  Avery wanted me to hold her too!

Meagan loved cuddling with Anya!  She said it's hard toremember Avery at that age.

Avery, Meagan, and Anya- Avery will make a great big sis one day!

Avery loved giving Anya her paci.  She thought Anya was a baby doll as it was her first time meeting a real baby!

That night we went over to Aunt Terri's house and the guys shot off fireworks.  Let's just say they like fire that are MAJOR pyros!

Holding Avery~ I can't believe how big she is getting!

Origionally we were going to leave the next day on the 5th, but we decided to stay an extra day- the joys of being a teacher!!!

We went to the zoo with my cousins, dad, and sister and Tommy! We had a great time. Anya slept most of the time in the stroller but we did manage to capture a picture of her first zoo trip.

Anya's first trip to the zoo!  She was busy snoozing the whole time.  Can't wait to go again next year!
Back at Grandma's house, we made sure to take lots of pictures!  I am so lucky that Grandma met Anya!!

Overall, it was a wonderful trip.  Anya did great and got lots of love from our family.  Thank you to my amazing husband for allowing us to spend more time with family than we planned.
