Baby #2 Update: 24 Weeks

Tomorrow I will be 24 weeks pregnant!  This pregnancy is going so fast.  I am so consumed with Anya and getting her potty trained, chasing after her, and what not that half the time I forget I'm even pregnant.  I'm so glad he's most active at night (when Anya is asleep) so I can actually pay attention and cherish it.

How Far Along: Second Trimester, 24 weeks tomorrow!

Size of baby: Just over a pound, almost 12 inches long (ear of corn)

Maternity Clothes: Yes:) But most of my maternity tops are still too big.  I'm at an in-between stage.

Gender: It's a BOY!!!

Movement: He's definitely getting much stronger as I can see his movements now.  He's most active after I eat lunch and at night.  I feel him mostly on my lower right side, very similar to Anya.  I've never felt him kick up high.

Sleep:  Very good at night!  The past few weeks I haven't needed daytime naps either.  It's so nice to have energy back.

What I miss: Sleeping on my back and stomach and margaritas with my guacamole

Cravings: Frappucino with whipped cream, apples with raisins and peanut butter, chocolate, guacamole made by my hubby

Symptoms: Face has acne:-( Varicose veins...fun stuff!  Emotional at times, but not nearly as bad as with Anya.  My gums are starting to bleed.  Not nearly as many Braxton Hicks as I had with Anya at this stage.

Best Moment this week: Getting his nursery painted (Thank you KATIE!) and Josh moved the crib in his room.  It's starting to look more like a nursery!

Gender Reveal Party

3/27/13- 20 weeks, half way there!
All along I've felt like this baby was a boy.  As much as I dreamed of Anya having a little sister, I couldn't help but picture her with a baby brother.  It just seems right.  We went to our 20 week ultrasound and told the nurse not to reveal the gender, because we were having a gender reveal party after our appointment.  The nurse told a friend the sex of the baby, and then my friend, Melissa, made a cake with color coordinating filling to reveal.
All during the ultrasound we both thought...."it's totally a boy".  Strange how you get that sense sometimes, isn't it?  It was the same way with Anya too.

Our little guy is healthy and everything looked great with him!  He's measuring 11 ounces and exactly on his due date: August 14th!  What a blessing!  I found out that I have placenta previa, but am praying this goes away by my next ultrasound at 28 weeks.

At our gender reveal party we had to dress in either blue or pink.
with Josh's parents...Deb couldn't decide which color to wear:)
 Us with my parents
Me and my pregnancy friend, Michelle.  We were pregnant together with our firsts too!
Jessica (and baby Zac) and I
 Nicole and I
 Little sis Katie and I

I was so certain it was a boy that I wore blue.  Josh thought boy, but wore a pink tie because he didn't want to risk being wrong and not getting his boy!  It's amazing how anxious we got before the reveal....it's either a boy or a girl, but for some reason it seemed so life changing in that moment.
Anxiously about to cut into the cake...
Telling Josh to cut in the middle, I wanted to make sure we would see the color.
 Here we go...
Is that really blue I see?
Yes it is!!! (This isn't the greatest picture of the blueberries in the cake, but you can kind of see them.)

Then we saw the blueberry filling on the cake...BOY!  Josh could have cried!  I am excited to have one of each:-)  Josh will be a great daddy to our little boy and Anya will be an awesome big sister!

10 on 10:: April 2013

10 pictures on the 10th day of the month!
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}

April 10th already!  Is it just me or is 2013 flying by?!  Here is a snapshot into our day.  It was a cold, drizzly, gloomy day so we stayed inside all day.  I do love those days where I don't need to leave the house.  This was one of those days.

Anya slept in until 8:00!  It was wonderful.  With terrible two's in full swing, I walked into her room to her throwing a fit in her crib.  Girl was HUN-GRY!  Anya always wants to buckle herself in.
It was a stormy morning, complete with hail.  I still can't believe Anya slept right through it!

Grandmama a.k.a. "Mama" came over to play with Anya for a few hours in the morning so I could get some housework done.  How lucky am I?  VERY! Laundry, check! Dusted, check! Bathrooms cleaned, check!  It was a very productive day for me.

Auntie Kates came over after work to help out with the baby's room.  We had lunch right when she came.  Leftover tacos...yum!

Empty laundry baskets make me happy!
Katie was a rock star on the new nursery.  Baby boy's room is painted!!! Thanks Kate!
I love Char Char.  He's such a great dog.  He was so happy today that we had two special visitors.

 Bye-bye builder's white...hello gray!
Anya feeds Charlie every morning/ night.  She knows just how much to give him.  It's adorable how much she loves feeding him.
(Yes, it's in the bathroom.  It was nice to have it blocked off when Anya was younger.  I have yet to find a new home for it.)
Here's my view.  While I made dinner (Pesto pasta with chicken) Anya did some water painting.  She was so independent with this activity...made me smile.  She's definitely becoming more interested in art projects!
After our peanut butter graham cracker sandwiches it was time for Anya to go to bed.  Auntie Kates finished painting and headed home.  Daddy won't be home until a little later tonight.  It makes me sad that there are days that he doesn't get to see Anya.  I am so incredibly grateful to him for working so hard so I can stay home with her everyday.

Happy 10th!!!

Spring Break 2013

Last week was our spring break.  It was so nice having Josh home for a week!  It's one of the greatest blessings of being a teacher.

We started the week by making Easter cookies for Josh's co-workers and the nursery workers at church.  I like to do a little "Happy Spring Break" for his fellow teachers.  This are the best cut-out cookies ever!!!  Anya did more eating and licking than icing the cookies.  These were not given to his co-workers!  LOL!
Here's our spring mantle.  I was happy with how it turned out.  Pretty and spring-y!

Here is "Gigi's" birthday gift: a spring wreath for her front door.  Anya constantly pointed to it saying "Gigi" "Happy".  "Happy" is how she refers to birthdays, because of "Happy birthday".

Anya was invited to Grandmama and Papa's church for an Easter Egg hunt.  Because it's still cold here, we had it inside the church.  Anya was so cute to watch collecting Easter eggs.  She wanted to open each one as she found it.  They had the eggs all over the floor and she skipped right over most of the obvious ones to get the ones "hidden" in corners.

Mid-week we found out the gender of the baby!  IT'S a BOY!!!  Anya wore her big sister shirt and was dressed in pink and blue for our ultrasound appointment.
We went to Rainforest CafĂ© with Josh's biological mother and her family.  Anya was pretty scared of the gorillas and other loud animals, but loved the fish!!! It was nice to finally meet his half-siblings Joey and Lauren.  They are such sweet kids.  Anya adored them!
We went to Gigi and Papa's to celebrate Gigi's birthday!  Anya helped Gigi blow out the candles.  Her favorite song is "Happy Birthday"!  It's so cute to hear her trying to sing it!  It sounds more like "Happy to do, Happy to do," then she inserts certain names in...usually it's "Papa" or "Char Char" (Charlie our dog! HA!)
I'm super bummed we didn't get a family Easter picture this year.  I was feeling under the weather and just didn't take time to orchestrate one.  So sad!  I didn't manage to get a few of Anya looking at the lambs that visited our church on Easter.  She loved them!
 Anya peeking through the fence....

Now that spring break is over, life is getting back into its normal routine.  The countdown is on for summer!!!
